Aqaba Conference 2023
The Aqaba Conference 2023 was held under the patronage of His Excellency Naif Al-Fayez, Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority.
This conference was organized in collaboration between the Jordan Insurance Federation and the General Arab Insurance Federation under the theme "Together We Create the Future," taking place from May 15 to 18, 2023, at the Hyatt Regency Hotel - Ayla Oasis in the Aqaba Special Economic Zone
The conference garnered support and partnership (sponsorship) from 40 entities, including insurance companies and various organizations, with participation from over 1,200 attendees representing 40 Arab and foreign countries. The event featured eight working sessions in which eight papers were presented, addressing significant topics such as the impact of implementing the IFRS 17 standard on insurance companies and the applications of enterprise risk management in insurance markets, Additionally, discussions included alternative dispute resolutions, agricultural insurance, and a dedicated focus on earthquakes, given the recent seismic activity in the region. One of the sessions also highlighted the experiences of insurance pools, particularly regarding green card insurance, while the final paper addressed mergers and acquisitions.
